The Students’ Union Government of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOUSUG) has rejected what it described as “obnoxious” 60% increase in tuition fee recently announced by the management of the institution.
In a statement jointly signed and sent to Blackface News on Monday morning by the Public Relations Officer of the Union, Comrade Dotun Adebusoye and the President, Comrade Tayo Mabumi, the union lampooned the Visitor to the institution, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, frowning that only a wicked, cruel, irresponsible and an anti-people “public leader” could contemplate of increasing tuition fee in the current era of recession.
“We wish to state categorically that it is the duty of the students’ union government to protect the interest of its members at all time which also suggest that students should not be made to pay through their noses even now that the economic situation of the country is tense.
“We reject this in its entirety. We shall employ the use of forces to wage war against the management if the new policy is not reversed downwardly
“We therefore call on all students to support this fight against “exploitation” and rise to stamp-out corruption playing through “back-door” in the administrative system of our university.
“The confidence repose in us by students is forever strong and we shall never allow for intimidation in fighting a just course.
“It should be noted that these decisions remain unchanged while we call for “strict” compliance on the part of our students. No student should pay the new fee until we give another directive” the Union said in the tensed statement
