Gov Ishaku Commends Buhari over Galumje’s Appointment

By Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye
Gov Darius Ishaku of Taraba on Wednesday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointment of Justice Paul Galumje as a judge in Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Ishaku in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mr Emmanuel Bello, described the appointment as ‘purely on merit’.

“I can only congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari for making a decision clearly based on merit and goodwill beyond the shadows of sentiments.

“I also rejoice with the legal world that indeed energised by Justice Galumje’s entry at the apex court,” he said.

Ishaku said that Galumje stood out as a symbol of blind justice who exceptionally rose above the fray while working as a judge in Taraba.

“His elevation, therefore, didn’t come as a surprise to the people of the state, but rather shows the seriousness of the government in the ongoing judicial reform agenda,” he said.

He urged Galumje to bring in the same spirit of patriotism, dedication and excellence demonstrated by the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed.

He said that Mohammed had done the state proud by discharging his duties creditably.

“Justice Mohammed is a true Taraba hero and a man we have no proper words to describe.

“Here is a man who is not swayed by any primordial considerations of tribe, religion or social status; he is down to earth, humane and highly patriotic,” he said.
