The National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the appointment of Former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan as the Director General, Akeredolu Campaign Organization for November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.
Blackface News gathered from the Aketi Media Office in Akure that the appointment is with immediate effect and the Supare Akoko born politician has since taken charge of the campaign activities.
Olabimtan, one of the 24 aspirants who battled for the governorship ticket at the keenly contested All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, held on September 3, 2016 in Akure, the Ondo State capital was a former commissioner in the Federal Civil Service Commission and Chairman, Ondo State Teaching Service Commision.
His rising political profile started with his contributions as the secretary of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) Students’ Vanguard which brought him to limelight.
Olabimtan was also on the delegation of UPN Monitoring Group to Bauchi State during the 1983 Presidential Election Primaries.
He was elected member of Ondo State House of Assembly in 2003 to represent Akoko South West Constituency and subsequently elected Speaker of the state parliament.
Investigation conducted by Blackface News revealed that the appointment of Olabimtan, a renowned grassroots politician was targeted at boosting the chance of Akeredolu in Akoko area of the state.
Other members of the campaign council are the party chairman in Ondo State, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, his Deputy, Engineer Ade Adetimehin and Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, Alhaji Jamiu Ekungba, Dr. Tunji Abayomi and Mr. Boye Oyewunmi all of whom were co-aspirants in theSeptember 3, APC Governorship primary.
