Kogi Govt. approves N156m to complete water project

By Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye
The Kogi Government on Friday approved N156 million for completion of 22 abandoned water projects in the state’s three senatorial zones.
The state Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Salami Ozigi, made the disclosure at a news conference in Lokoja.
The commissioner said that contractors handling the projects would be mobilised to go back to the sites as soon as possible.
According to him, funds have been approved for Obangede, Magongo, Ekuehi, Egge, Isanlu, Anyigba, Oguma, Kuroko, Ogori, Ajaka, and Adavi-Eba Water Works.
He said that the government had also approved funds for Okene-Idoji South and North, Ageva, Imane, Esomi, Ogidi, Geregu, Nagazi, Mopa, Ageva, and Idah Water Schemes.
Ozigi said that the process of awarding contract for the rehabilitation of Old Lokoja Water Works, Pata, to complement the Greater Lokoja Water Works, was being perfected.
“This gesture is part of the efforts of our amiable governor to alleviate the suffering of the people by ensuring regular supply of potable water across the state.
“This government is passionate about providing potable water for the residents; hence, the need to go into Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement to meet people’s expectations.
“We have investors who have demonstrated the capacity and interest to invest their money in water projects in Kogi, and we are ready to engage them,’’ he said.
