There is an indication that the governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy(AD)in Ondo state, Chief Olusola Oke has picked the former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Gani Dauda as his running mate for the November 26 governorship poll in the state.

A source close to the AD state hierachy who spoke in confidence confirmed that the decision to pick Dauda was agreed on sunday after its caucus meeting in Akure, the state capital.

Political stakeholders in the four local government areas of Akoko land have been agitating for Muslim’s Deputy Governorship ticket under any party to secure votes from the area.

Oke had on Saturday, dumped the APC for AD where he was consequently picked to replace Akin Olowookere as the party’s candidate.

It was learnt that the former member representing Akoko North East and Akoko North West Federal constituency at the National Assembly was at the venue of the meeting to sign his membership card as a member of the AD in order to fly the ticket with his principal, Oke.

Dauda was said to have told the gatherings that Oke dumping the APC had the blessing of the National leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

A source quoted Dauda as saying “I was not around when Oke joined AD, I was on my way to Abuja then, but my name has been submitted to INEC as Oke’s running mate.

“I decided to come here today to familiarize with you my people instead of joining the party directly from Abuja”.

The former lawmaker assured that the Christian/Muslim ticket of the AD would win the next election in the state, saying“I am a Muslim and from Akokoland, We are taking Ondo state to a new height”.

He revealed that Oke, Senator Ajayi Boroffice and Dr Olusegun Abraham are all working together.

Dauda, born in Irun Akoko is a Muslim. He represented Akoko North East and Akoko North West Federal constituency between 2011-2015.
