Three men, who allegedly broke into a house at night and stole phones worth N35,000, were on Monday brought before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court.
They were, however, released on bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with two sureties each in the like sum.
The trio-Akanbi Oluwaseun ,24; Alex Igboeli, 43; and Ifeanyi John 26 -is facing a seven-count charge of theft, conspiracy and housebreaking.
At the arraignment of the accused, Prosecutor Olu Abodunrin told the court that the men committed the offences on Aug.10 at 10.00 p.m. at No. 3, Kunle Thompson St., Osogbo.
Abodunrin said the accused conspired with others now at large and broke into the apartment of a man, Yahaya Kamalu, and carted away one rickety Itel phone and Techno Y6 android phone, valued at N35, 000.
The offences contravened Sections 249(d), 390(9), 411, 427 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
They all pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs Bose Adeyinka, urged the court to grant them bail on the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Olowolagba, said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should also show evidence of tax payment to the government as part of the bail condition.
The case was adjourned to Nov.1 for mention.
