Compel INEC to fix date for Rivers Rerun Poll, Deputy Governor Begs National Assembly

The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr ( Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has pleaded with the National  Assembly to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to come out with a definite date and clean blue print for the conduct of a free and fair rerun elections in the State which the commission has tentatively fixed for October,  to save the State from seemingly orchestrated political victimization.
In a statement issued from her office yesterday, Banigo said it is sad, provocative and a constitutional breech for INEC to be issuing statements that portray it as being “unserious, inept and overwhelmed in conducting election in Rivers State.”
The deputy governor wondered why it is only one opposition party out of 30 registered Political Parties in the State that is not complaining about the endless and tele-guided postponement pointing out that the inaction of INEC is seemingly a  demonstration of incompetence and a dangerous trend to the sustenance of the democratic process.
She regretted that under the current leadership of INEC, the Country now has an infamous legacies of inconclusive and needless postponement of elections since the exit of Professor Attahiru Jega.
Banigo further urged the NASS to invite INEC for interrogation over its inability to conduct rerun elections in the State.
