Public Complaints Commission Terminates Appointment of 149 Staff Secretly Recruited

By Maxwell Adeleye

Following our report on Sunday exposing the secret recruitment at the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Blackface News can now confirm that the management of the commission has terminated the appointments of all the 149 staffs recently recruited secretly without recourse to official policies guiding recruitment and employment of personnel into the public service.

The PCC, known as the Nigeria Ombudsman performs statutory functions such as, receiving complaints from aggrieved persons against government agencies, corporate organisations or their officials; It Investigates either on its own initiative or following complaints lodged before her; recommends appropriate remedial measures to the aggrieved.

In a circular on Monday, the PCC in a statement signed by Kelvin Echeugbwu said it is terminating the appointments in public interest.

According to an impeccable source at the commission, the agency terminated the appointments following public uproar against the illegal modus operandi adopted in recruiting the new staffs by the organization.

Blackface News gathered that the new staffs were recruited secretly as all modicums of recruitment into the public service were circumvented by the management of the commission.

PCC joined the league of Federal Government agencies such as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), Nigeria Prison Services (NPS), Nigeria Immigration Agency (NIA), Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) etc. who had this year recruited children of political and business bigwigs in Nigeria without recourse to federal character and other rules of public service engagement.

The Commission has wide powers to inquire into complaints by members of the public against any administrative injustice in any Government establishment in the Federal, State and Local Government; incorporated companies registered under Company Allied Matters Act.

The commission is directly under the supervision of National Assembly.
