A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Yinka Akerele has dumped the party for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), in Ekiti State.
Akerele was received at his Ayede Ekiti home town by a tumultuous crowd of made up members of the APC in all the 16 local governments of the state.
The APC’s Deputy Chairman in the state, Chief (Mrs) Kemi Olaleye, who led other members of the state executive council of the party to receive Akerele assured that the door of the party is opened to all.
“APC is a party that was formed to champion the cause of the people and give Nigerians the best in terms of governance. To this end, we are always eager to accept into our fold, right thinking individuals who share our vision.
“The coming of Otunba Akerele is a welcome development and we assure him and his followers in the Ajinde Ekiti Movement that they will not be discriminated upon. By our party constitution, we give equal right to all members, whether old or new,” she said.
Other leaders of the party also expressed happiness saying the new entrant into the party has political worth needed by the party to recapture the state in 2018.
