Ekiti opens bids for new Governor’s Office

By Sunday Aloba, Akure

Ekiti State Government has opened bids for the construction of a new Governor’s Office and High Court complex under the supervision of the Ministry of Works and Transport. At the opening of tender held at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office on Thursday, interested contractors angling to win the contracts submitted their bids for the projects.

Governor Ayo Fayose had during his last media chat promised to build new Governor’s Office and new Judiciary Complex to complement the ongoing construction of a flyover and Main Market in Ado Ekiti which he described as Legacy Projects.

Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mrs Funmi Ogun, explained that the open bidding process testified to the Fayose administration’s transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources.

She disclosed that the consultants’ proposed bill for the construction of the new Governor’s office was pegged at  N687,28, 63. 63 while the proposed expenditure for the construction of the High Court Complex was N1, 299, 613, 897.60.

The Contractors that  bid for the  new Governor’s office include: Vyouad Construction Company Limited, with a projection  of N852, 152, 82. 1 while Tianjin Yuyang Construction Company and Goodek Ventures Limited quoted N1, 95, 457, 760.45 and N687, 28, 63.63 respectively .

For the construction of the proposed  High Court Complex, Grid Associates Limited  and Fovak Construction Limited quoted N1,588,188, 349.13 and N1, 311, 64.373 respectively.

Mrs. Ogun said: “What we are doing today confirms the transparency of our government. It shows that  Governor Fayose is incurably committed to giving  Ekiti a facelift and make Ado Ekiti capital city a real modern city .

“Ekiti will be 20 by October 1, 2016  and we have to embark on projects  that will make Ekiti a developing state that can compete with other capital city in terms of infrastructure .

“The High Court we are presently using was inherited from the old Ondo State and building a new one would afford us the opportunity to put state- of -the -earth  equipment that can improve judicial administration in the State”.
