Indian envoy assures Tambuwal on Sokoto renal specialist hospital

By Musa Gada, Sokoto

Sokoto State Governor, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has been assured of total support towards the desire of the state government to get its renal and cardiac hospital on stream.

The assurances were secured when the Indian High Commissioner, Mr. B.N Reddy paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Sokoto on Wednesday.

Addressing his host, Tambuwal said, “We seek to expand our cooperation with Nigeria in the medical and other sectors and this is an opportunity for us to take active part.”

He added that the relationship between his country and Nigeria has been cordial, and that the two countries are working to enhance it.

In his remarks, Tambuwal said the cardiac and renal centre will be the best in the country and will serve patients from Nigeria and other West African countries.

“It will be a centre of excellence and having it on ground in Sokoto will enhance medical tourism and help Nigeria conserve much needed foreign currencies which many of our country men and women expend to seek treatments abroad,” the Governor said.

The two leaders also pledge to boost trade and commerce, mining, agriculture and educational ties between their citizens.
