Members under the umbrella of Youth League of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have urged the leadership of the party to pick one of them as deputy governorship candidate to guarantee victory for the party on November 26.

A statement by its Coordinator, Adebowale Akinlosotu urged the party leadership to consider the strength and commitment of the Youths as a critical factor in picking Akeredolu’s running mate.

The group hinged its demand on the voting strength of youths in any election, which could determine the victory of any party that give consideration to youth camp.

It said, “The general position of the youth is that of having somebody of their age range in the joint ticket to give them the necessary confidence and sense of belonging in government. This will create the necessary synergy that will catalyse youth empowerment.

The youth also advised the federal government to impress it on the National Assembly to review the age criterion in the constitution.

They maintained that the next deputy governorship candidate should emerge from within the youth wing, since the old men are being considered as the governor.

The statement recalled that Nigeria’s founding fathers like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Ladoke Akintola, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Dr. Nnandi Azikwe left their foot prints in the sands of time having served the nation between the ages of (30-36) years respectively.
