No fewer than 80 widows who were assembled by the Norion Foundation to receive wife of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Idia, left the venue dejected and angry.
This is because they became furious after waiting for several hours to see their host, Mrs. Ize-Iyamu who could only give them face towel to take home.
It was learnt that the widows received bags of rice and food from the wife of Godwin Obaseki and had expected such gesture from Mrs. Ize-Iyamu but were disappointed at the face towel given to them.
Many of the widows were seen grumbling and quarrelling that they were made to wait several hours without food.
One of them who gave her name as Mrs Elizabeth Osaze said they arrived at the venue around 8 am in the morning but Mrs. Ize-Iyamu came late campaign group arrived last .
“Could you imagine, we have spent several hours here waiting for Mrs. Ize-Iyamu campaign team to come and address us. After talking to us, she left us hungrier than she met us.
“Instead of her to make provision for food, she gave us 20 face towels that will not go round and we are more than 80 ” she said
Another widows who spoke in anonymity said she was at the venue before 8 Am, thinking she would go home with something reasonable.
She stated that the 20 face towels caused further chaos among the widows
Founder of the Norion Foundation, Mrs. Cynthia Ighodaro, denied using the widows to solicit financial assistance from governorship candidates.
Cynthia said she did not inform the widows that the candidates’ wives were coming to share food to them.
According to her, “My foundation is non-partisan. They just know that widow gather here in a fellowship gathering and we hold meetings here. It is a foundation where I take care of widow.
“Any widow complaining to you is not part of my foundation. I am not using them. And it is not a political forum. They might have told people about what they got when Obaseki came which was why others came.”
