The gubernatorial campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, was on Thursday halted after some youths attacked his campaign team in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area, and damaged at least two vehicles in his convoy.
The PDP candidate along with his party members and supporters had just completed a rally in Jattu, near Auchi, and were exiting the town when some youths, who were chanting anti-PDP songs, ambushed their convoy.
Two vehicles, a Mercdez Benz C-Class and a Toyota Sienna, were damaged by the youths.
As at press time, it was not certain if arrests have been made as the incident was reported to the Auchi Police Area Command by the PDP candidate in the company of the state chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih.
In a related development, the residence of the PDP coordinator in Ward 2 in the local government areas, Emma Musa, was on Wednesday night reportedly attacked.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, Musa said his brother, Johnbull Musa, who was sleeping in the house during the attack suffered mild burns in his legs, adding that he lost properties such as TV sets, refrigerators, beds and clothes as well as cash in the attack
When contacted, the Divisional Crime Officer in charge of the police station at Iyuku, Mr Imasuen said the matter would be properly recorded pending investigations.
