Ex-Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo joins Kano Pillars

A former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, has joined Nigerian Premier League side, Kano Pillars.With the move, the former defender with the national football team has put to paid, the interest that other NPFL clubs like FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Akwa United and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi have shown on him.

The 35 years old player signed a deal with Kano Pillar as a means of promoting and adding value to the league by attracting more spectators to the various league match venues.

Chairman of the League Management Company, Alhaji Shehu Dikko, said efforts were being made to ensure that Yobo makes his debut appearance with the Kano based team adding that it could be Kano Pillars next (home) game.

“For now, that is being worked out, but we’re looking at the next (home) game,” Dikko said on Tuesday during the unveiling of the LMC partnership deal with Star beer, as the official beer of the Nigeria Professional Football League at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Pillars are currently on sixth position in the league table with 45 points from 30 matches

They will travel to Ibadan to face struggling Shooting Stars in a match day 33 fixture.
