APC students’ caucus seeks Buhari’s intervention in NASS crisis

By Dotun Omolaja, Lagos

The students’ caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the lingering crisis rocking the two chambers of the National Assembly. The group in a statement issued on Friday also addressed sundry other issues relating to the party and the governments it control with a verdict that the president should move away from his reticent posture and intervene in the crisis rocking the National Assembly.

According to the statement signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Damilare Emmanuel, the group’s position is hinged on its believe that President Buhari was not elected to supervise the executive arm of government only.

“This is the right moment for the President to show the quality leaderships, Nigerians didn’t vote for President Muhammadu Buhari to see into only the executive functions but the nation at large in which the national assembly belongs to.

“There is no doubt that the delay in appointment is leaving Nigeria a step behind, a quick measure to get appoint the ministers and other relevant portfolios with due respect to those that have worked for the victory will definitely put the president and his cabinet on the right page.” Emmanuel wrote.

He also stated that the call is predicated on the need to prevent some anti-progressive elements from the country and the party with the aim of steering away from the path of change that the people of Nigeria yearned for during the electioneering period.

“The happenings in the National Assembly has shown that some elements that contributed to Nigeria woes are still at work, thus, we need to continue to lend our voice to expose this evil men of the country, when Nigerians were determined to go for change, these calibers of looters were silent and never deem it fit to tour the country for President Muhammadu Buhari, after which Nigerians have decided, they are all out to reap from where they have not sown.” He wrote.

On the allegation of official graft leveled against Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, the group wrote that “We challenge the Justice Folahanmi Oloyede to wait for the appropriate time if he is truly willing to be the governor of Osun state, it will be sentimental if only one state is under attack while many other states that owes many months salaries are peacefully coordinated.

“The Osun state house of assembly belongs to Osun state people and as such, the development the state has reached should be vindicate the governor.”
