The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) has criticised the contract awarded for the rehabilitation of about 100 roads project by Governor Olusegun Mimiko-led administration.Reacting to the move in a statement issued on Sunday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abayomi Aesanya, the party queried the rationale behind the move which he said is coming at this eleventh hour of his eighth-year tenure.
In statement issued Adesanya on behalf of the APC described Governor Mimiko-led administration as a drowning government enrich in corruption, struggling to get its bearing.
“The hurriedly-packaged and poorly-articulated initiative of Ondo State government to rehabilitate about 100 roads in the State and the re-awarding of Irele-Okitipupa road that was about 70% completion under the government of late Dr Olusegun Agagu, but abandoned for over seven years by Gov. Olusegun Mimiko.
“This is a failed attempt by the Governor to hoodwink the people of Ondo State to vote for his ‘anointed candidate’ under the umbrella of a tattered umbrella Party, the PDP, and to shore up the dwindling popularity of Mr Governor ahead of the November 26th governorship election in the state.†Adesanya wrote.
He added that it is on record that, the need to rehabilitate bad roads in Ondo State had been at the fore of public discourse over the years and the APC, has raised related-issues through our press releases in the past.
“Our suggestions have consistently fell on the deaf ear of an anti-people administration of Mimiko. The questions the people of Ondo State are asking are: Why did it take Governor Mimiko over seven uneventful years to flag-off the rehabilitation of 100 roads when it predecessor, Dr Olusegun Agagu.†He wrote.
