Power supply to all the 11 electricity Distribution Companies on July 29 dropped to 2,796MW as gas to power reduced by 4,595MW due to vandalism of pipelines.

The Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) that made this disclosure on its website on Monday adding that the sector recorded so far has 133MW gas constraint.

NESI however stated that that there was no water management constraint but further stressed that the sector lost about N2,269,000 on the day under review.

On the daily summary of power sector performance, NESI said, “On July 29 2016, average power sent out was 2,796MWh/hour (up by 93MWh/h). The reported gas constraint was 4595MW. The reported line constraint was 133MW. The water management constraint was 0MW. The power sector lost the estimated equivalent of N2,269, 000, 000 on July 29 2016 due to constraints.”

“On July 26 2016, average power sent out was 3003MWh/hour (up by 75 MWh/h). The reported gas constraint was 4302MW. The reported line constraint was 70MW. The water management constraint was 0MW. The power sector lost the estimated equivalent of N2,125, 000, 000 on July 26 2016 due to constraints.”

NESI had on the previous day noted that “On July 25 2016, average power sent out was 2928MWh/hour (up by 26 MWh/h). The reported gas constraint was 4302MW.

The reported line constraint was 224MW. The water management constraint was 0MW. The power sector lost the estimated equivalent of N2,172, 000, 000 on July 25 2016 due to constraints.”
