Egba monarch tasks youths on entrepreneurship

By Ahmed Sobiye, Abeokuta

The Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has charged Nigerian youths to embrace entrepreneurship as an alternative in searching for white collar jobs that are non-existent. The monarch gave the charge at an empowerment programme organised by the Egba Economic summit held at Ake palace Abeokuta on Monday noting that only entrepreneurship would address the increasing unemployment rate in the country.

Oba Gbadebo said unemployed youths would do well by utilising their God-given talents and skills to earn better living instead of seeking for scarce paid employment.

“Many youths in Nigeria are exceptionally talented but have abandoned their gifts in search of white collar jobs which are no more in existence,” the monarch said.

Chairman of Egba Economic Summit (EES), Mr. Tunji Sunmonu enjoined youths in the state to shun crime and violence and engage themselves in entrepreneurship which guarantees safety instead of seeking for white collar jobs.

He noted that it is imperative for the unemployed youths to take the advantage of the programme to exhibit their God-given talent in earning money for their living.

“The programme is free of charge for the unemployed youths in the State and it is very important for the youths to come and showcase their talents in order to live a well meaning life instead of resorting to begging and looking for white collar jobs” Sunmonu said.
