Dickson extends olive branch to APC, woos party members

Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has called on members of opposition especially the All Progressives Congress to join him in the task of developing the state. A statement signed on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson noted that the governor said it was time for all the people of the state to key into the restoration agenda.

Dickson extended a hand of fellowship to members of the APC asking them to close ranks with his administration in actualizing the vision of the restoration agenda.

The governor according to the statement spoke at the state’s monthly praise night at the Palace of Melchizedek, in Toru Orua, his hometown in Sagbama.

Dickson said his political opponents still remained brothers and sisters adding that the state required the collective efforts of all stakeholders, irrespective of party affiliations to enable it make progress.

Insisting that the task of developing the state was a collective responsibility, he said that, Bayelsa has had enough distractions and divisions at a time the country was grappling with daunting economic challenges.

He acknowledged that power comes from God, the governor noted that, overcame his tribulations by the grace of God, as evident in the recent verdict at the governorship election petition tribunal.

He asked the APCS stalwarts to use their contacts to bring federal appointments and projects to the state, instead of embarking on divisive tendencies.

He also criticised the non-inclusion of Bayelsans at the federal level, in line with the federal character principle.

According to him, Bayelsa State deserves adequate representation, considering the fact that it contributes immensely to the national economy.

He also thanked the people of the state for their show of support and enjoined them to pray relentlessly for the state government and the country as a whole, assuring that, Bayelsa is on course.
