Scores of Youth under the auspices of the Ondo Youth Progressives (OYP) on Wednesday aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state ahead of the November 26 governorship election. The youths who were mainly indigenes of the state but resident in the diaspora said their support was to ensure that the opposition party win convincingly in the forthcoming gubernatorial poll.

The Chief Convener of the youth group, Olaniran Leo-Olagbaye who was at the APC secretariat in Akure said their mandate was to stand by the opposition APC to win the governorship election.

Leo-Ologbaye said the group comprising young professionals in the diaspora are concerned by the slow pace of development in the state under the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hence their declaration for the opposition party.

He wondered why Ondo state has been locked out in the scheme of things, stressing that the youths are fully prepared to bring positive changes through their active participation in the new government in the State.

He said”We are here to declare our support for the APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state, not any particular aspirant

“We have looked around the state and find out that there is no other party that can deliver the state from its current predicament other than the APC, hence our support.

“The progress and development of our dear state is very germane to us most especially in terms of governance there is need to involve the youths”

He added that the group is not financially induced by any of the aspirants and tasked the leadership of the party to ensure a free and fair primary election already fixed for August 27.

The State Chairman,Isaac Kekemeke urged the youths to begin mobilisation for the opposition party in order to win the November 26 poll in the state.

Kekemeke who was represented by the State Secretary, Rotimi Rahman, urged the youths to shun all acts of violence before, during and after the election.

One of the governorship aspirants,Tunji Light-Ariyomo  said the party would conduct a credible primary election to pick the best candidate that would fly the APC ticket in the November poll.

He highlighted some of his activities particularly in the past administration of Dr Olusegun Agagu as the then Coordinator of the State Information Technology Development Centre(SITDEC).

Ariyomo said he is eminently qualified as a vibrant youth with good credentials and pedigrees to develop the state,if he gets the mandate of the people to rule the state.
