Afenifere calls for probe of National Assembly over budget padding

The Pan Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere has called on relevant authorities to probe allegation of budget paddling leveled against some members of the National Assembly. This is coming just as the organization also declared its support for the anti-corruption crusade of the President Muhammadu Buhari led-government.

The group also called on President Buhari to do everything to ensure sanity in the National Assembly saying current revelations have indicated widespread corruption in the nation’s legislature.

The group at its monthly meeting held at the residence of its leader, Chief Rueben Fasoranti in Akure urged President Buhari to extend his anti- corruption war to all sectors.

It also demanded that the monies recovered should be spent for the welfare of Nigerians.

The group however condemned the current economic hardship in the country, urging the Federal Government to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians through effective economic policies.

A communique read to reporters by the Publicity Secretary of the group, Yinka Odumakin,expressed concern on the current

hardship being experienced by Nigerians, saying that the situation calls for urgent attention of the government.
