The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige stated that the election of President Mohammadu Buhari saved the country from being destroyed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led governments in the past.Â Ngige who was a governor of Anambra State, however said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the state come 2018.Â
He spoke in Awka, the state capital saying, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration almost grounded Nigeria through corruption that nearly blinded the people.Â
Again, Ngige said Buhari inherited an alarming debt burden from PDP that ran into trillions of naira.Â
He noted that the works sector alone was in debt of 400 billion naira, while power sector was in debt of over 200 billion naira.Â
Ngige said those who were blaming Buhari for the current problems in the country were uninformed.Â
He said if PDP had stayed in power beyond 2015, that more Nigerians would have turned into paupers.
According to him,”what we saw when we came in was horrible, total decay and destruction.Â
“PDP was out to kill this country, we thank God for the intervention of 2015 general election”Â
“In the ministry of works alone, we inherited a debt of 400 billion naira, in the power sector, over 200 billion naira was inherited and so on and so forth”Â
“The Dasukigate you hear about was a loan of trillions of naira they collected and shared among themselves, the corruption was massive.”Â
However, he enjoined members of APC in Anambra State to persevere in being faithful, adding that they would soon enjoy their moments.Â
On the 2018 governorship election in the state, Ngige when the time comes that APC would win it.Â
He said, “by next year 2018, those who are currently occupying the Anambra State government house will just run away and APC will take over” Ngige said.
