A militant group in Ondo State,’Malokun Boys’ has given the Federal Government and the National Assembly three days to reverse nomination of Olatokunbo Ajasin as a member of the state on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). A statement signed by the group’s spokesman, Mr. Okunigba Raymand reads, “Malokun boys on behalf of oil producing area of coastal communities of Ondo State wish to express our displeasure over the illegal inclusion of Tokunbo Ajasin from the upland-Owo Local Government as a nominee to represent Ondo State on the board of NDDC.

“The nominee is not from the oil producing area of Ondo State where the position is strictly reserved in accordance with the provision of NDDC act 2000 at No. 6 Law of the federation of Nigeria, section 2 (1b).

“This provides that one person which shall be an indigene of an oil producing area to represent each of the nine oil producing states of the country in NDDC Board.

They subsequently urged President Muhammadu Buhari and National Assembly to order the withdrawal of the list and replace Ajasin’s name with a bonafide indigene from the oil-rich producing area of Ilaje Local Government of Ondo State.

The statement added that “If at the end of the ultimatum, the Federal Government and National Assembly failed to replace Ajasin with an indigene from the Oil Producing region of the State (Ilaje), we will shut down operation in all oil companies operating in the region.

“If Federal Government and National Assembly turn down our agitation, we will let them know that the Security which they claim to have is insufficient for them and as such, they should go and hire more because we are coming to revolt against the appointment any moment from now.”
