Sultan of Sokoto to FG: ‘Fish out killers of Plateau monarch

The Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on the Federal Government to fish out the killer of the first class traditional ruler of Bokkos Local Government area of Plateau state. Sultan made the call when he paid a condolence visit to the palace of Gbong Gwom Jos,Da, Jacop Gyang Buba at Jishe, Jos on Wednesday over the attack. 

Late Lazarus Agai, who until his death last Monday was the Saf Ron Kulere and Chairman of Bokkos local government traditional council was killed along side his driver, security details when some unknown gunmen attacked his vehicle on his way from farm. 

The Sultan who lead a delegation of northern traditional rulers on the condolence said, “The federal Government need to rise up to fish out the killers and bring them to justice as a way of preventing further attack on traditional rulers and other innocent citizens of the country. 

He said, “The perpetrators of this unfortunate act in the Country, no matter highly place they may be, must be arrested and be prosecuted because every Nigerians has the right it life and government has the responsibility to protect all its citizens from such untimely death. 

“Traditional rulers who are working hard for the attainment of peace in the Country, but it very unfortunate that we have become the target of these criminals we are struggling to protect. 

The sultan stressed that the traditional institutions in the Country would not stop talking about peaceful coexistence until the desired peace is been achieved. “We most work a system out to dealt with all those behind this ugly act, and would go to any length in ensuring that the perpetrators of such crimes in the Country face the wrath of the law.” 

The Bong Gwom Jos, Da. Jacob Gyang Buba who doubled as the Chairman of the Plateau State Traditional Council thank the delegation for the visit. 

The Plateau monarch said, “The attack on late paramount ruler of Bokkos came to me as a rude shock, I least expect that from any one now that peace has been achieved in Plateau state. 

He described the death of late Agai as a huge loss to government and people of the state. 

Bong Gwom also said the visit by the northern traditional rulers over the death is a gesture that will go a long way in strengthening the bond of unity in the northern region. 

The northern traditional rulers also paid similar condolence visit on the Plateau state governor, Simon Bako Lalong where they also condole him on the death of Lazarus Agai. 

In the same vein, member representing Riyom/ Barkin Ladi constituency in the House of Representative, Hon Istifanus Gyang has expressed his heart felt condolence to the state governor and people of Bokkos local government over the assassination of late Lazarus Agai. 

In a press statement issued in Jos yesterday through his media aid, Mr. Chuwang Dung, Hon Gyang said, “The news of the day light terror attack that claim the live of our royal father the Saf Ron Kulere  HRH Dah Lazarus Agai  a first class monarch reputed as an advocate of peace along with 4 of his aides has thrown Plateau State into a mournful state of shock. 

“The unfortunate and condemnable incident came at a time Plateau people were getting  accustom to an atmosphere characterised by God given peace. 

“This tragic incident has again amplified and brought to the fore the atrocities of the  notorious “unknown gun men” as a topical issue of national concern and discuss.
