Tinubu writes police IGP, seeks security protection citing threat to life

The member representing Lagos West in the Senate, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has written to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, seeking security protection from perceived threat to her life by a colleague, Senator Dino Melaye.Tinubu in her letter, a copy of which was obtained by BLACKFACE on Monday however hinged her request on what she called violent antecedence of Melaye whom she alleged contributed to the death of fellow member while he was a member of the Federal House of Representatives when he was a member.

According to her, Melaye had not only threatened her actually attempted to molest her during an executive session that took place last Tuesday.

“It was the timely intervention of member colleagues , which prevented Senator Melaye from unleashing physical assault on me. However, as the leadership of the Senate did not call him to order in the circumstance he proceeded to threaten my life without provocation.” The letter reads in part.

She added that “In view of Senator Melaye’s antecedence, particularly in the Federal House of Representatives where a brawl led by him had led to the untimely death of a member, I have decided not to ignore his threat to my life. Therefore I am compelled to write you to use your good offices to provide me with adequate security.”
