The Expanded Caucus Meeting of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has held in Abuja with the leaders of the party fixing the convention of the party to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital for August 17.This is coming just as the meeting also set a reconciliation committee under the chairmanship of Senator Ike Ekweremadu and that the factional chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has agreed to work with the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led caretaker committee.
In a communiquÃ© issued by the party after the meeting that took place at the Yar’Adua Center in Â Abuja, the PDP also agreed in principle to zone the chairmanship of the party to the Southern part of the country.
The communiquÃ© reads in part, â€œA Committee has been constituted to work out a new zoning arrangements for national offices with the consideration of the National Chairman zoned to the South having approved Zoning for Presidency to the North at the last National Convention.
â€œA National Reconciliation Committee is also constituted to continue on the reconciliation efforts in the Party headed by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.â€
