Oil marketers seek EFCC probe of ex- leader over N10.9b fraud

By Wahab Akanji, Abuja

Members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) have written a letter to relevant government agencies seeking a probe of its former President Abudukadiri  Aminu over N10.9 billion petrol subsidy fund. Those whom the letter was directed to include the Presidency, Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC), the Directorate of State Security (DSS) and the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris.

Also, through a unanimous vote, members have also expelled him from its Board of Trustees (BOT) and appointed new members from 21 depots.

Speaking at the association’s Extra-Ordinary General meeting in Abuja, the incumbent President, Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo, accused Aminu of collecting N10.9b as subsidy fund from the Federal Government to import petroleum products without the knowledge of members of the association.

“You will agree with me that this association has been in a serious problem since after Aminu handed over. Why are we here today, N10.9billion of oil subsidy.

“IPMAN investment was given a window to bring in products in this country. Fellow marketers, you will agree with me that nobody saw this product.”

Okoronkwo also accused the former president of selling a property belonging to the association.
