Mimiko has case to answer over $1.2b arms deal, says Ondo APC

By Samuel Faleye, Akure

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Governor Olusegun Mimiko to come out clean on media reports suggesting that he received over N500million from the office of National Security Adviser to ex-President Gooduck Jonathan.

This is contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Abayomi Adesanya.

While admitted that the national secretariat of the party is yet to take a position on the matter, Adesanya stated that “We consider it as evil and callous for anyone to have received and diverted funds meant for the procurement of arms to fund the presidential campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015.”

According to Adesanya the call became rife as Mimiko was the chairman of Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign in the Southwest.

“It is beyond imagination that the leaders of PDP in Ondo State seek and profited richly from an insurgency that consumed over 20,000 souls and displaced over 2.3 million Nigerians. They have lost what is left of integrity and credibility, if they have any, though. Is Mr Governor a contractor?

“The people of Ondo State deserve to know if Mr Governor is now a contractor of arms and ammunitions.” Adesanya said.
