Edo 2016: APC national leadership affirms Obaseki as guber candidate

National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted the report of the party’s June 18, 2016 Edo Governorship Primaries 2016 Appeals Committee. National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni who disclosed this to newsmen on Monday also announced that the party has also approved the winner of the primaries, Mr. Godwin Obaseki as it’s flagbearer for the forthcoming governorship election. 

A three-member Appeal Committee on Wednesday June 29, 2016 submitted its report to the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. 

The Election Appeal Committee is chaired by Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, a former member of the House of Representatives with two other members. 

The committee received petitions of two aspirants, Barrister Kenneth Imansuagbon and Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi but in its report stated that the primaries were valid and while not dismissing the seriousness of the allegations and claims of the petitioners. 

It also called on all APC stakeholders in Edo State to put the party’s interest over and above personal interests in ensuring a speedy and amicable reconciliation.
