Elder statesman and former liaison officer to ex-President Shehu
Shagari on National Assembly matters, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai has
condoled with the family of the late Alhaji Shattima Ali Monguno, who
died recently. In his condolence message to the bereaved family, Yakasai Monguno’s
death has ribbed the nation of yet another compatriot, who devoted his
entire life to building Nigeria as a formidable, virile and great
nation, capable of providing good care for its citizens.
“By his death, Nigeria has lost yet another nationalist, who
contributed immensely to the nation’s fight against colonial
domination, for freedom, democracy, individual liberty and human
right. By his death, the nation is robed of one of its rare gems,
whose mature counseling will be greatly missed,†he wrote in a
statement he issued on Sunday.
While describing the deceased as a perfect gentleman and ever
friendly, Yakasai acknowledged that he lived a peaceful life in
dealing with his friends, relatives and all acquaintances, with
dignity and respect.
According to Yakasai, all the friends of the late politician will
testify that he was never known to be quarrelsome throughout his life,
recalling that his last meeting with him was when he honoured his
invitation to the commissioning of female hostel he built in
University of Maiduguri complex dedicated to accommodate married
female students in the University.
