No fewer than four persons have lost their lives in a reprisal attackÂ between Fulanis and farmers in Barakuta village in Bosso LocalÂ Government area of Niger State.Though scores of others died in the series of clashes, many houses,Â four cars and 17 motorcycles were burnt.
Eye witnesses state that crises began on Thursday when Fulanis killedÂ a Gwari man who prevented them from raping a girl during the SallahÂ celebration.
In a revenge attack, the Gwaris gathered together and killed someÂ Fulanis which led to the reprisal attack on the villagers.
The stateâ€™s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala ElkanaÂ confirmed the incident to newsmen saying that four people died duringÂ the attack while many houses and valuables were burnt down.
Elkana stated that police and military joint forces have been deployedÂ to the village to bring the situation under control.
He urged the people of the community to remain calm as securityÂ agencies were on top of the situation.
