Policeman escapes death by pro-Biafran football fans in Enugu

There was a mild drama at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu Friday night during a local derby match of the Nigeria Premier Football League between Rangers of Enugu and Abia Warriors of Umuahia as a policeman escaped being lynched by football fans.

Owing to his decision to employ tact, the unnamed officer would have kissed his life goodbye when a group of young Igbo youths were moving round with Ogene music when one of them was seen displaying Biafran flag.

His action provoked the yet-to-be-identified police officer within the stadium and he moved towards the young man holding the flag and attempted to snatch it from him.

However, he got more than he bargained for as everyone around there descended on him and nearly lynched the officer.
