The member representing Ondo North district, Senator Ajayi Boroffice has flayed the abduction of a traditional ruler in the state, Oba Abiodun Oyewunmi by suspected kidnappers.
The victim is the the Laragunsin of Iyasan ‎community in Irele Local Government area of the state.
Borofice conveyed his displeasure in a statement issued on Thursday by his media aide, Kayode Adeniyi, saying the incident is callous, unfortunate and condemnable.
The statement reads in part, “We must not give in to dastardly attempts by criminals to desecrate the revered traditional institution in Ondo State. As a people, we must continue to protect the sacredness and sanctity of our heritage against any form of intimidations and attacks from criminals.
“Those who have responsibilities to ensure the security of lives and properties in Ondo State should live up to the expectations of their offices. The era of kidnapping should not be allowed to creep back into the State.
“Having received assurances from the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies that the monarch will be freed unhurt from kidnapper’s den and reunited with his families and subjects as soon as possible, I wish to encourage the people ‎to enhance the rescue efforts by providing relevant information to the state security agencies,â€
