Ajimobi seeks dialogue with labour at Sallah

By Ismaila Akanji, Ibadan

Oyo State Governor, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi on Wednesday joined other Muslim faithfuls in Ibadan, the state capital to observe Eld-Fitri festival prayers with a call on workers to embrace dialogue. Governor Ajimobi worshipped at the popular Yidi Prayer ground amidst hundreds of other faithfuls.

He used the occasion to appeal to striking workers to embrace dialogue with the government to resolve the ongoing government/labour face off, saying the workers should end the over one month industrial action in the spirit of the festival.

At the University of Ibadan, the Chief Imam of the institution, Professor Abdulrahman Oloyede enjoined Muslim faithful to be patience, saying the ongoing economic crises would soon be over.

Oloyede, a Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the university in his Kutbah (sermon) shortly after he led Muslim faithful to observe the Two-Rakat compulsory prayer to commemorate  Eld-Fitri festival said the current economic down-turn in the country required perseverance.

While appealing to workers who have not been receiving salaries in the state, he urged them to remain patience and pray for a turn around in the state and Nigeria at large.

He urged Muslims in the country to sustain the virtues and teachings of the just concluded Ramadan fast.

Oloyede said “After the hardship, surely, there is a relief, God will accept our prayers. We used this medium to pray for a turnaround of the country, we used this medium to pray for all Muslim land across the world and Muslims in general.

“We thank God for this grace, we thanked him for the uncommon favor on us, may the mercy of Almighty Allah continue to be with us all.”
