NSCIA tasks Muslims, urges faithful to pray peace in Nigeria

By Toyin Durosinlohun, Ilorin

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has urged
Muslims in the country to pray peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.

This is coming just as the council also encouraged faithfuls to keep
the virtues and gains of the month as a spiritual guide for
accelerated development of the nation.

Secretary-General of NSCIA, Prof Ish-haq Oloyede told newsmen at the
weekend in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, when felicitating with the
entire Muslim Ummah in Nigeria on this year’s Ramadan fast.

Oloyede said, “While reminding the Ummah of the necessity of paying
Zakatul-Fitri with the intention of lifting the hearts of the indigent
members of the community, the council urges all to ensure its delivery
to the appropriate recipients (the poor) and guard against diversion
by any agent or intermediary.

“In preparation for Idul-Fitri celebrations, the National Moon
Sighting Committee (NMSC) of the NSCIA has advised the
President-General Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar that the crescent of
Shawwal should be searched for on Monday, 4th July, 2016.

“Muslims all over the country are hereby enjoined to be on the look
out for the directive of the President-General of the NSCIA on the
completion of this year’s Ramadan fast.”
