Buhari Sacks Ibe Kachikwu As NNPC GMD

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Ibe Kachikwu as the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The President also approved the composition of the board of the NNPC. In a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser media and Publicity to the President, Mr. Femi Adesina, the new board is expected to be chaired by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

According to Adesina, the move is in furtherance of Section 1(2) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Act of 1997, as amended.
Apart from Kachikwu, the new board is composed of the Group Managing  Director of the NNPC, Dr Maikanti Kacalla Baru; Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
Other members such as Mallam Abba Kyari, Dr Thomas M.A John, Dr Pius O. Akinyelure, Dr Tajuddeen Umar, Mallam Mohammed Lawal, and Mallam Yusuf Lawal.
