As National Image takes its youth empowerment and leadership programme to Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos,Sole Administrator of the council area and chairman conference 57, Sanya Osinjo has urged youths in the council area to embrace the programme, saying it is one of the ways they can acquire skill that can guarantee them stable income.
The sole administrator who spoke with journalists yesterday at Bariga said one of the major tasks given to the sole administrators when they were inaugurated few weeks ago by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode include job creation and youth empowerment.
He said sole administrators in council areas are ready to support any youth who makes himself or herself available for the youth empowerment and leadership proggramme to start up in life.
Also speaking, Proggramme Coordinator, Seyi Bamigbade said the training and empowerment programme coming up between July 18 and July 20 will be held within the premises of Bariga LCDA.
According to Bamigbade, in line with Governor Ambode’s directive on zero tolerance for street trading and hawking, the training programme comes as a big opportunity for youths to acquire skill in agro-business sector to make them self-sufficient rather than risking their lives, hawking on the highways.
He urged youths in Bariga area to register for the programme, saying there are many opportunities attached to the programme.
“Participants aside from being trained will be enrolled into our cooperatives where they can access soft loans for their businesses. We will also link them directly with the Bank of Industry and take them through the procedures of obtaining money for their businesses from the bank,” Bamigbade said.
It will be noted that National Image, the publisher of Image Magazine had embarked on Youth Empowerment, Leadership and Entrepreneurship Programme two months ago and has so far trained over 5,700 youths in a few local governments including Ikeja Local Government Area and Epe Local Government Area.
Bamigbade said the programme will go round all the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas before the end of the year.
