PDP flags off Edo election campaign Monday

The opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a governorship campaign team to be led by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.

This is coming just as the party has planned to flag off its governorship campaign in the state for Monday next week.

PDP is fielding a former Secretary to the State Government, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu who is expected to square up against the candidate of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

A statement issued by the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP, obtained on Friday also listed as members, all elected governors on the party’s platform.

Also listed are senators from the South South geo-political zone as well as chieftains of the party across the country.

The statement, which was signed by the secretary of the national caretaker committee, Senator Ben Obi reads in part, “The PDP will Flag-off the Campaign for Edo State Governorship Election as follows: Date: Monday 4th of July, 2016; Venue:Dr. Sam Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State; Time: 11:00 am.”
