Sallah: FG declares Tuesday, Wednesday as public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday and Wednesday next week as public holidays for Muslims in the country to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitri.The festival marks the end of fasting by Muslims across the world in accordance with a tenet of the faith that enjoins faithful to fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

Federal Government in a statement issued by Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), has declared July 5 and 6th as public holiday to mark Eid-el Fitri Celebrations.

The minister urged all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which are love, peace and justice to their daily living and through this contribute to the development of the nation.

Dambazau also urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of “this spiritual rejuvenation to reflect on the imperative of unity and peaceful co-existence in strengthening the bond of togetherness for a strong, virile nation.”
