Supporters of the two leading political parties, the People’s DemocraticÂ Party (PDP) and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have clashed at the continuous registration center at Ward 6 in Oredo Local Government area of Edo State.
According to an eyes witness account, an argument with the Independent National Electoral Commission ad-hoc staff on ground sparked the row as PDP agents alleged that they were favouring APC loyalists against the opposition party.
The argument which did not go down well with some APC supporters resulted to serious fighting with battle axe and machete.
The Fracas which was described as Syrian War got four persons seriously wounded before the timely intervention of security operatives.
Wounded persons are currently receiving treatment at a private Hospital in Benin.
Also, about 20 youths allegedly from Bayelsa and Delta states were arrested on in Ologbo, Ikpoba Okahi Local Government Area and Abudu, in Orhiomwon Local Government Area of Edo state, when they invaded the areas to participate in the ongoing Voter Registration Exercise ahead the September 10, governorship election in the state.
There has been tension in the state since the commencement of the exercise following continuous altercations between youths of various communities in the state and people from neighbouring states who wants to register in the areas.
