Edo 2016: Obaseki emerges APC flag bearer

An aspirant, Godwin Obaseki has emerged winner of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for November governorship poll in Edo State.

At the primary conducted amidst tight security at the Samuel Ogbemudia in Benin, the poll he emerged winner polling 1,618 votes in the ballot cast to defeat the incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu who came a distance second with a total votes of 471.

Prior to voting, temper rose at the venue of the accreditation centres when some agents of the other governorship aspirants discovered that those about to vote from some of the local government are not the same as those that where accredited.

The situation was however put under control when the security personnel brought the situation under control thus signalling the commencement of voting.

In his acceptance speech, Obaseki thanked both the organisers the delegates for making the event a huge success.

He stretched a hand of fellowship to his fellow aspirants just as he called them distinguished and worthy ambassadors.

He promised to build on the successes so far recorded by the incumbent governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and enjoin the poeple of Edo to follow him to make Edo a better place.
