Boko Haram insurgents sack army barracks in Niger, cart away weapons

Members of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram have killed seven soldiers and injured others in military barracks in the southeastern corner of Niger Republic.

In the raid conducted by members of the group on Friday, they also carted away weapons from the unnamed barrack.

Boko Haram in a statement on Friday said its men attacked a town in Niger while a delegation of ministers were visiting, killing seven gendarmes and wounding 12 in a gun battle.

“A detachment from the soldiers of the Caliphate carried out an attack on military barracks of the Nigerien apostate army in the town of Ghafam in the area of Diffa … A quantity of weapons and various ammunition was taken as spoils.” The statement reads.
