The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has donated assorted relief materials to 500 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), victims of insurgents and less privileged in order to cushion their economic hardship in Borno state.

The occasion took place at the Multi Purpose Hall, Government House in Maiduguri on Saturday. Distributing the relief items through the Chairperson of the Committee, wife of Borno state Governor, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima said, the gesture became necessary in view of concern by Hajiya Aisha Buhari and the President to take care of IDPs and victims of insurgents, especially women and children who are the vulnerable group in the society.

She recalled that recently, the Committee had distributed relief items to IDPs mostly pregnant women, lactating mothers, children and those who sustained injuries due to suicide bombings and were hospitalised at various hospitals in Borno state.

Likewise, Hajiya Nana said her committee has visited Gubio, Biu Local Government Areas and other host communities, where thousands of IDPs and other victims of insurgents benefited from the gesture.

“This time, we are giving them bag of rice each, beans blankets, Mosquito nets, Indomie, set of wrapper, soaps etc donated to Her Excellency, wife of Mr. President.

She therefore called on well meaning individuals and corporate organisations to donate to IDPs, particularly during this month of Ramadan.

Responding, Chairman of People living with disabilities in the state, Mallam Umar Mohammed thanked the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari and the Borno state governor’s wife for taking care of vulnerable groups in the state.
