By Ahmed Shobiye, Abeokuta

The leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Ogun State has reacted to the death of a former coach and captain of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, saying he (the deceased) gave leadership a new meaning.

Chairman of the association, Mr. Hakeem Akintunde in a statement he issued on Wednesday stated that Keshi’s leadership gave new meaning to captainship of the national team.

According to Akintunde, “His exemplary leadership as a manager led to unsung heroes lifting The Cup of Nations three years ago under him as a coach. Now that this has gone with him his good works live on.

He added that Keshi will always be remembered as a leader who was nicknamed the big boss as a player and lived that dream by lifting AFCON as coach nineteen years after.
