Yoruba group urges militants against attack on oil facilities

By  Olaolu Oladipo, Lagos

A group, Yoruba Youth Congress (YYC) has called on militant groups in the Niger-Delta region to put a halt to the spate of attacks on oil facilities located in their area.

National President of the group, Prince Dapo Adepoju Tuesday said the militant group was acting a wrong script, stressing that they should understand that whatever they do will have adverse effect mostly on their communities.

Adepoju who is also the Coordinator of all ethnic youth groups in Nigeria urged the irate youths to adopt dialogue in pressing home their demands.

The YYC leader pleaded with the group to lay down their arms and support Buhari’s administration in its determination to tackle the multifarious challenges confronting the country.

He faulted the killing of soldiers and civilians as well as the bombing of oil facilities, stressing that the militants were causing grief in their own land.

According to him, “The present situation portends a great danger because if not checked in good time might cause another security challenge and terrorism in Nigeria.”
