Amaechi blames Jonathan for non-implementation of Ogoni clean up

The Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has blamed the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan for the non-implementation of the UNEP clean up of Ogoniland.

According Amaechi who is the immediate past governor of Rivers State, where Ogoniland is located said Jonathan turned deaf ears to the plight of the Ogoni people and the Niger Delta in general when he (Jonathan) was in power.

The minister made the assertion in his address at the flag-off of the implementation of the United Nation Environmental Programme, UNEP report on Ogoniland acknowledged the presence of his successor, Nyesom Wike, lamented that he did everything within his power to make the former leader implement report.

He said, “We did everything possible as a sitting government to make the president implement the UNEC report, everything. But the report was not implemented after all.”

Amaechi noted that the 1b dollar clean up exercise would create jobs for the people of the region.

He, however, thanked the President Buhari -led administration for coming to the aid of the Ogoni people and for fulfilling part of his campaign promises of cleaning up the region.
