Baring any unforseen circumstances, the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State is set to commence production any time from now.

Hope rises as ALSCON set to begin production

Baring any unforseen circumstances, the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State is set to commence production any time from now.

 

This is because the management of  UC-RUSAL Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), the new owners has expressed optimism that the company would commence production soonest.

 

Managing Director of the company, Mr Dimitry Zavyalov stated this while briefing the Clan Head of Ikpa Ibekwe and his council in Ikot Abasi on Wednesday.

 

According to him, the company will bounce back for optimal productivity irrespective of the difficult period faced by the company.

 

“The Management of ALSCON will not relent in exploring available possibility with appropriate authorities for ALSCON to come back to live,’’ he said.

 

The Managing Director stressed the importance of Aluminium and the technicalities that are involved in the production of the products which required professionals.

 

Zavyalov said that only committed workers would be re-absorbed when the company resumes production.

 

He said that the management had commenced steps that would yield positive results during the productivity.

 

Zavyalov explained that negotiation for connection of the National Grid to ALSCON was in progress.

 

He reiterated commitment that Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), would expedite action towards the completion of work on scheduled with inspection of facilities.

 

In his remark, the Clan Head of Ikpa Ibekwa, Etebom Akpan Akpan thanked the Managing Director for the visit and for relating with the host community.

 

He expressed displeasure faced by the company, saying that the community was worried about the situation in ALSCON.

 

Akpan said the community was proud to be associated with the Management of ALSCON especially for working in close consent with the appropriate authority as well as carrying the community along towards resuscitation of ALSCON.

 

The Clan Head pledged his continued support towards the commencement of the production.

 

Akpan called on the Federal Government to appreciate the economic viability of ALSCON to the nation by ensuring that ALSCON resumes soonest.

 

He commended the Federal Government for their wise decision taken which metamorphosed in  the establishment of ALSCON.

 

He urged the Federal Government not to allow the company to rot  away for the interest of the state and the nation’s economy.
