The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs have recently met to discuss on how to partner in order to achieve economic development in Nigeria.

RTEAN, Niger Delta Ministry Share Views

The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs have recently met to discuss on how to partner in order to achieve economic development in Nigeria.

 

The Association had the discussion with the ministry at a courtesy

call on the Honorable Minister, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani last Monday at the ministry’s office in Federal Secretariat in Abuja.

In an address, the executive president of the Association, High Chief Musa Shehu Isiwele informed that his organisation all over the

federation were in total support of the change mantra of the

government, even as he added that the essence of the visit was not only to establish the needed synergy with the government in other to

achieve beneficial front for economic development, but also to partner with the government to that effect. To that end, Isiwele therefore said that RTEAN has embarked on several projects which according to him will generate employment to about 45,000 people in the country. He also informed that they have also embarked on skill acquisition training for their members in order to improve on their capacity as well as empower them through their Mass Transit Scheme with over 4,000 vehicles in the fleet. Added to what his organisation has embarked on were building of modern motor parks in addition to constructing of 1,000 units of houses in 36 states of the federation and Abuja. The executive national president however informed that they were in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Works and its workshops all over the federation acquires to service and maintain vehicles in RTEAN’s fleet, just as he added that there was arrangement with their foreign partners to their Nigerian technicians in that regard.

In response, the Honorable Minister therefore assured them of assistance and partnership with the reason that they have contributed immensely in the area of employment creation, among others, just as he commended them for supporting the government, as well as their ability to rid parks of touts. Appealing to them to be giving them useful information that would help them in discharge of their lawful duties, Usani Uguru Usani urged them to to assist the government in the Niger Delta and the North East of the country as well as in the fight against corruption.
