Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi ll has dethroned the younger brother to the state Governor Alhaji Sani Umar Ganduje as village head of Ganduje in Dawakin Tofa Local Government citing alleged financial misappropriation.Â
The move followed series of petitions from intending pilgrims to the emir on alleged misappropriation by the village head leading to botched pilgrimage last year.
The emir who announced the dethronement during the palace sitting on Monday, said the dismissed village head has been accused of defrauding intending pilgrims of the money meant for hajj operation.
Kano Emirate Council had earlier suspended the village head to pave way for investigation.
The deposed village head was also accused of being using his brother position as Governor of the state by intimidating people.
“We have deposed a village head who was found consuming involved in this offence. We took the decision because as a traditional ruler, he should be a role model to others and not to be promoting this kind of action in the society”.
Investigation in Kano revealed that the announcement of the Kano state governor’s brother came at the time when people were bitter with the present administration for its inability to address most of the issue affecting the state.
